When storm damage repair is the right call

A storm can harm a roof without tearing anything off it. Hail dents asphalt shingles and strips the granules that shield them from sunlight. Wind pulls a tab free of its adhesive strip, and once lifted it bends, cracks and starts letting water through. None of this tends to show on day one, so a roof can seem sound from the street while it is quietly failing.

We locate that damage, walk you through it and repair it correctly. On one roof that may be a few dozen shingles and fresh sealant at the flashing. On another, the harm runs across every slope and a full roof replacement is the honest recommendation. Either way, you hear which it is and the reason behind it.

Spring hail and summer wind come around every year in Noble, Norman and Moore, so we keep storm work steady and unhurried.

What the work includes

Every slope checked
We cover each face of the roof along with ridges and valleys. Shingles, flashing, vents, pipe boots and gutters all get a look, because soft metal often holds hail marks that confirm what the shingles conceal.
Marked, dated photos
We photograph each problem and mark it, so you can see the bruise, the loose tab or the split boot for yourself. Keep them for your records or for a conversation with your insurer.
Shingle repairs that blend in
New shingles are chosen to come as close as possible to the existing style and shade, then hand-sealed so they sit flat. Older roofs can be hard to match, and you hear that from us before work begins.
Flashing, vents and boots
Hail dents vent caps and splits rubber pipe boots, and wind can loosen step flashing. We replace or reseal each one so water runs off the way it was designed to.
Decking checks where needed
If water has already found the wood, we open the area, test for soft or separated decking and replace what has failed before new shingles go on.
Temporary cover and cleanup
An opening that cannot wait for the repair date gets a secure tarp. On the day of the work we shield plantings and run a magnet over the yard for nails before we go.

Signs your roof took storm damage

  • Granules in the gutters

Gritty, sand-colored buildup collecting at the downspouts after hail tells you shingles have lost their protective coating.

  • Dents on metal parts

Look at gutters, downspouts, vent caps and the air conditioner housing. Hail that marked those surfaces struck the roof as well.

  • Lifted or creased shingles

A tab that flutters in a breeze or carries a crease across it has come unsealed. Each windy day pulls it further until it tears loose.

  • Shingles in the yard

A single piece on the lawn points to a bare patch somewhere up on the roof.

  • New ceiling stains

A damp spot that shows up after bad weather usually leads back to a loose shingle, a split boot or shifted flashing.

What sets the price of a storm repair

Storm repairs are priced by the damage on your roof, not by a flat rate, since hail and wind never strike two roofs alike. The figure comes down to how much needs replacing and how hard it is to reach. Every line on our estimate is explained, so the final bill matches what you approved.

How far the damage spreads

A few loose tabs on a single face of the roof is a short visit. When hail has bruised shingles on every face, repair stops making sense and we talk about replacement.

Which shingle is on the roof

Three-tab, architectural and impact-resistant shingles each carry a different material cost. A color that is no longer made can add time while we source the nearest match.

What sits under the shingles

Wet underlayment or soft decking has to come out along with the shingles above it. That only becomes visible once the old layer is lifted, and we show you photos before it goes on the bill.

Pitch, height and access

A steep roof, a two-story eave or a tight side yard calls for more setup and fall protection, and that shows up as labor.

How a storm repair job runs

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Let us know what you spotted and which storm you think caused it. We agree on a day to come out and inspect.

  2. 2

    Inspection and photos

We look over the entire roof, not only the spot you noticed, and photograph each issue. Afterward we go through the findings with you in everyday language.

  3. 3

    A plain recommendation

You hear whether the roof needs a repair, a replacement or simply watching. If the damage may support an insurance claim, we describe how claims usually unfold. Coverage is decided by the adjuster, not by us.

  4. 4

    Written scope and scheduling

A line-item estimate lists each item we plan to replace and the reason. After you sign off, we put the job on the calendar.

  5. 5

    The day of the work

Most storm repairs wrap up within a day. We protect the ground around your home, finish the repair, clean up and show you what was done.

Storm damage questions

Should I file an insurance claim for hail damage?

It depends on how much damage there is and on your deductible. We will show you what we found and give you our honest read on whether it looks claim-worthy. The decision is yours, and the coverage decision belongs to your insurer and their adjuster.

Can you meet with my insurance adjuster?

Yes, we can be there when the adjuster inspects so the damage we documented gets looked at. We point out what we found, but we do not negotiate your claim or act as your adjuster.

Will repaired shingles match the rest of my roof?

We source the closest match we can find in style and color. On an older roof, new shingles may look slightly different until they weather. If a close match is not available, we tell you before any work starts.

How soon after a storm should I have the roof checked?

Soon, but there is no need to panic. Small damage like a broken seal or a bruised shingle tends to get worse with each storm, so it is worth having it looked at before the next round of weather.

My roof looks fine from the ground. Is it worth an inspection?

Often, yes. Hail bruising and broken seal strips are almost impossible to see from the yard. If your gutters or vents are dented, or a neighbor is getting work done, a closer look is sensible. You can also read about our roof inspections for a routine check.
